Florence Welch Reflects on Her Collaboration with Taylor Swift #
Florence Welch disclosed that she “chose to embrace some changes” following her onstage collaboration with Taylor Swift at Wembley Stadium.
Memorable Performance During the ‘Eras Tour’ #
The singer of ‘Dog Days Are Over’ made an unexpected appearance during the final night of Swift’s five-show ‘Eras Tour’ at the renowned London venue last year, which also concluded the tour’s European segment.
She took the stage to perform ‘Florida!!!’, her joint effort with Swift from the latter’s latest album, ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, marking the track’s live debut. Later in 2024, Welch joined the tour once more to perform the same song in Miami.

A New Perspective on Her Career #
Welch revealed through a recent interview with The Guardian how sharing the stage with Swift opened her eyes to new possibilities in her career. “We’ve known each other for quite a while,” she mentioned, stating, “She just texted me.”
Describing the performance, Welch called it “amazing, » adding, “I’ll admit that I’m someone who tends to shy away from the subtle humiliations of fame. Yet, stepping onto that stadium stage with her made me think, ‘this is pretty incredible.’”
Following the experience, she determined to make significant changes in her approach: “After this, I need to make some adjustments,” she confided to the publication.
Welch previously mentioned her experience collaborating with Swift on ‘Florida!!!’, remarking, “I didn’t fully grasp the scale of it.”
“There’s the sheer magnitude of [Taylor Swift’s phenomenon], but then there’s the Taylor I have fun with in the studio, who is genuinely the sweetest and most grounded,” she added. “We had a fantastic time, and when it was released, I thought, ‘Oh, wow!’”
Welch has also been busy in the studio with Florence & The Machine, who are due to launch their sixth album, ‘Everybody Scream’, on October 31.
She has mentioned that the album draws inspiration from her experience undergoing lifesaving surgery during the ‘Dance Fever’ tour in 2023, and she recently disclosed that she faced an ectopic pregnancy during that period.

The upcoming album, exploring themes of womanhood, partnership, aging, and mortality, features contributions from singer-songwriter Mitski, as well as Bowen and Dessner.
So far, two singles have been released: the title track and ‘One Of The Greats’, the latter of which she created in one take alongside IDLES guitarist Mark Bowen.
This new album follows 2022’s ‘Dance Fever’, which topped the UK charts. Newzikradio described it as “the resounding sound of a reborn artist” in a four-star review, noting that “this 14-track collection embodies a fresh resolve, infusing powerful, subtly thrilling pop with renewed vigor.”
Florence + The Machine will also embark on a tour to promote the album next year, featuring UK and European dates throughout February and March, including two major performances at London’s The O2. A full list of dates is available here.
